A family picnicOur wedding is mostly about sharing an important moment with my family, in what I think is a family friendly manner. We're not having dancing or alcohol at our wedding, which is at 2 pm. So the reception will be about catching up with family and eating some good food.
That said, we both have large families and we're on a small budget, but my family has a lot of experience in feeding large numbers of people with our family and the restaurant they used to own. So my mom, who can't help but feed people, will be taking care of the food. And after all these years, she knows how to do it for less. Our tables will have white tablecloths with apple green runners and yellow gingham cloth napkins at each seat. I want to fold the napkins into pockets that can hold silverware. We're having two different kinds of centerpieces. One is a mason jar with a bunch of my paper flowers in it and the other is a mason jar lined with sheet music with a candle in it. We'll have paper heart confetti sprinkled around that as well. Our guest book will have people write wishes and advice on the back of postcards and stick them into a cardboard mailbox that I'm getting from Hobby Lobby and decorating with paint. Behind the cake table, we're going to hang a yarn line with pictures clothes-pinned to it. We're also setting out sidewalk chalk for the kids so they can play outside once dinner is eating. One of my older cousins will watch them while they play. |
